Welcome

Welcome to the Department of Engineering Science and Physics at The College of Staten Island of The City University of New York. The College of Staten Island Department of Engineering Science and Physics is the sole entity for engineering education within the City University of New York which offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science degree*. It is also the sole entity for engineering education within the borough of Staten Island that offers a degree of any kind in engineering. The Engineering Science program covers fundamentals common to all fields of engineering with emphasis on Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Graduates of the program are prepared to explore and apply scientific methods to analysis and design in newly emerging fields as well as traditional fields.

The Department of Engineering Science and Physics also houses the Associate in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology degree. This degree focuses on the computer. Graduates of this program are prepared to find entry-level positions in the electrical/computer industry and can also continue on to the B.S. in Engineering Science, Computer Science, or Economics with a minimum loss of credit. This program is well suited for students who are not sure of which aspect of this high-tech society they should focus their future on.

The College of Staten Island has a long and proud tradition of emphasizing broad-based education and interdisciplinary programs. Housing the Engineering Science program in the Department of Engineering Science and Physics, which offers basic Astronomy, Geology, and Physics courses for all the college majors and also houses a Bachelor of Science in Physics, builds on that tradition and allows the program to flourish with the support of faculty in related areas. The educational and research programs at the Department cover a broad spectrum of activities in Engineering Science and Physics. The Department is located in building 1N in the north quadrangle and is equipped with state-of-the-art computer and laboratory facilities.
