Program Objectives

The program educational objectives are established with the direct input from the industrial advisory board (IAB), alumni, and students. The educational objectives are consistent with the mission of College and ABET Criteria. They are also published in the brochure of Engineering Science program. The overall objective of the four-year Engineering Science curriculum is to prepare graduates for a successful entry into the engineering profession. Specifically:

    1. To prepare our graduates for entrance into the engineering profession by stressing the common fundamentals of science and engineering and the multi-disciplinary nature of all these fields, with an emphasis on electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering.
    2. To prepare our graduates to develop creative solutions and designs for contemporary engineering problems.
    3. To provide an educational experience that emphasizes the need for developing and improving interpersonal and communication skills at the verbal, written, listening, and cyber link levels. These skills help develop the ability to give and follow instructions, and to collaborate with customers and fellow engineers.
    4. To provide an education that emphasizes the ethical, social, and moral responsibilities in the practice of the engineering profession, and the need for ongoing professional development.
    5. To prepare our graduates to understand the importance of observation, experimentation, and analysis of data, economic considerations, and realistic design constraints.
