Electrical Engineering Technology

Associate in Applied Science Degree

Program Educational Objectives
The Program Educational Objectives are as follows:
□  This program will prepare its graduates with basic skills needed for entry level
positions in Electrical Engineering Technology and related fields.
□  This program will also prepare its graduates to succeed in their career positions and
advance to higher level positions by emphasizing the need for lifelong learning and
facilitating articulation to a B.S. program at the College of Staten Island/CUNY and
    other accredited colleges.
□  This  program will expose our graduates to ‘real world’ situations by emphasizing
exposure to practical industrial type experiences using laboratories and a
    comprehensive capstone design project.

Program Outcomes
The Program Outcomes for the A.A.S. Electrical Engineering Technology Program are as follows:

Program Outcome 1
Our graduates must understand and be able to test and troubleshoot existing analog and digital, electrical/electronic systems and to help design, fabricate and evaluate prototype systems.

Program Outcome 2
Our graduates must be able to analyze electrical/electronic systems using appropriate circuit analysis theory and to verify the results with software simulation and actual measurements.

Program Outcome 3
Our graduates must be familiar with one higher level programming language and appropriate software packages.

Program Outcome 4
Our graduates must be able to listen and to understand instructions and to communicate effectively; verbally, electronically and written word and be able to produce and maintain accurate work logs.

Program Outcome 5
Our graduates should be able to function effectively in teams that simulate the industrial environment.

Program Outcome 6
Our graduates will be exposed to a broad education that enables them to understand the impact of technology in a global and social context. Our graduates must develop an understanding of the professional and ethical responsibilities of their chosen profession.

Program Outcome 7
Our graduates must demonstrate a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.

Program Outcome 8
Our graduates must remain current in a changing technological world. They must understand the need for lifelong learning and continuous professional development. Graduates should be sufficiently prepared to continue their education towards B.S. programs.

Program Outcome 9
Our graduates must be able to effectively use the internet to secure basic technical and related information.
