Electrical Engineering Technology
Associate in Applied Science Degree
A two-year program leading to the Associate in
Applied Science degree. The Electrical Engineering
Technology curriculum provides a theoretical and practical
course of study in the basic principles and applications of
electrical and electronics technology.
Coursework takes place both in the classroom
and the laboratory and includes classes in communications,
microcomputers, computer programming, circuit analysis,
microcontrollers, fabrication and system design.
Graduates are prepared for employment as systems field,
installation and customer engineers, facilities managers,
technicians in many different industries and sales
representatives for computer and electronics products.
Firms using modern computer systems in PC support,
communications, networks, programming,
research, development, and sales are typical employers.
Graduates of the program may continue in the BS degree
programs in Computer Science, Engineering Science, or
Economics at the College of Staten Island. This AAS
degree counts towards the educational requirement of the
fundamentals of engineering portion (FE) of the
Professional Engineers Exam (PE).
Admissions Requirements
A high school diploma or its equivalent is required for
admission to all two-year programs at the Collage of
Staten Island.
Continuation into Bachelor of Science Degree
Programs The Electrical Engineering Technology degree provides
articulation into four-year degree programs at the College.
Students who receive the AAS degree can be admitted to
the BS degree programs in Computer Science, Engineering
Science, and Economics after completing some additional
coursework.
